Campus Administration Isn't Listening:
The United Campus Workers of Utah (UCWU) is calling on all workers and supporters to join our Letter Campaign to university presidents, demanding they address our living wage petition and commit to fair pay for all campus workers. Despite delivering a petition with over 1,000 signatures to Presidents Randall (UofU) and Cantwell (USU) on February 13th, they refused to meet with us or even acknowledge our demands. Additional emails and delivery statements were ignored, and our invitation to a constructive dialogue at the Workers Town Hall on February 27th was met with silence.
The Reality:
The presidents have made it clear—they will continue to ignore us unless we build a critical mass of workers and supporters taking collective action to force them to heed our demands. We cannot rely on their goodwill; we must unite and escalate our efforts to make our voices impossible to overlook.
Our Demands:
- $21/hour minimum wage at USU, $23/hour at UofU
- $43,000 minimum stipend for graduate students at USU, $47,000 at UofU
- $43,000 minimum annual salary for full-time employees at USU, $47,000 at UofU (excluding benefits)
- Annual 5% pay increases for all employees
Take Action!
Why This Matters:
- Economic Justice: Workers deserve wages that reflect the cost of living. Many struggle to afford basic needs like housing, food, and healthcare.
- Moral Responsibility: Universities must practice the values they preach by valuing the labor of all employees.
- Collective Power: Over 1,000 workers and community members have already signed the petition. Together, we can force leadership to act.
Why Participate?
- Amplify Your Voice: University presidents have ignored us—your letter adds to the pressure they cannot ignore.
- Build Solidarity: Join a united movement fighting for dignity and fairness for all campus workers.
- Force Change: Only a critical mass of collective action will compel Presidents Randall and Cantwell to address our demands.
The presidents will continue to ignore us until we make it impossible for them to do so. Join us in demanding fair pay and respect for all campus workers. Together, we can win the living wage we deserve!
